About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting with election preparation, including equipment management, site identification, and data entry. The role involves ensuring the proper functioning and storage of voting equipment, identifying suitable polling locations, and maintaining relationships with building owners. The Election Official will also oversee an Election Day zone, resolve equipment issues, conduct inventories, and complete necessary paperwork and data entry tasks. This role offers opportunities for skill development in planning and attention to detail, and contributes to the administration of fair and accessible elections.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-6 months of related experience in an administrative support position, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • One year data entry experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance coverage required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
  • Command of Microsoft Office.
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with equipment preparation, security tagging, identifying units, equipment transportation, and security.
  • Ensuring all voting equipment, transfer equipment, and election-related materials are maintained and properly stored.
  • Identifying potential polling locations and performing visual inspections for ADA compliance, voter convenience, accessibility, and parking.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with building owners and officials in assigned zones.
  • Maintaining accurate voting location reports and maps within the designated area.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Overseeing an Election Day zone, including delegating responsibilities to rovers.
  • Identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions.
  • Conducting inventory and re-stocking supplies.
  • Completing Secretary of State Checklists.
  • Performing data entry tasks, such as updating polling location changes, cancellations, and information about routes, rovers, and supplies.
