About The Position

Baptist Medical Center is hiring a part-time EKG/Stress Technician for its Diagnostic Cardiology Unit at Baptist South in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a day-shift role supporting EKG and stress-testing services. The technician performs EKGs, prepares patients for stress tests, applies monitors, obtains vital signs, and works with the cardiology team to support safe, timely, and compassionate patient care.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 1–2 years of experience performing EKGs.
• Experience performing Holter monitor application.

Nice To Haves

• Associate of Science degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Place leads and perform EKGs accurately, ensuring clear tracings and high-quality results for physician interpretation.
• Maintain detailed, organized work logs and send orders and completed studies to reading physicians in a timely manner.
• Prepare patients for regular, nuclear, and echo stress testing, including skin preparation, comfort measures, and clear instructions.
• Place monitors and obtain vital signs; observe patient status and immediately report abnormal findings to supervising clinicians.
• Assist and reassure patients undergoing stress testing, providing clinical support and compassionate care.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other cardiology team members to support patient care and departmental standards.
• Follow safety protocols and infection-control policies, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
