About The Position

The Salvation Army Kroc Center (SAKC) in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an Educator Assistant (EA) to work part-time, Monday through Friday, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The EA will assist the Educator I in implementing educational and recreational activities for youth in grades K-7, help with homework completion, and serve as a positive role model. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work with diverse populations, and a commitment to maintaining a clean work environment. Occasional work outside of regular hours for special events, including Saturdays, may be required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Must be detail orientated and organized.
• Must be willing to work with a diverse population and age/grade groups.
• Must be safety orientated.
• Must have ability to work well with others while responding to direction and feedback.
• As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
• Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Nice To Haves

• College credits in Education preferred.
• Experience in childcare or another related field helpful.
• Ability to transition from school year programming to summer programming preferable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Educator I in the implementation of traditional and non-traditional education and recreational activities for youth in grades K-7.
• Assist youth in grades K-7 with homework completion.
• Act as a role model for students.
• Exhibit a positive rapport and strong communication skills with program participants, staff, and parents.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of special events and Family Nights.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
