About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the course ADED 3P91, 'Power, Practice and Process in Learning,' for the Fall 2026 term. This online course examines theoretical, pedagogical, curricular, and practical issues related to power dynamics in post-secondary and community outreach settings. The instructor will be responsible for instructional duties, providing academic direction and feedback to learners, facilitating the learning experience, developing engaging instructional resources, assessing assignments, and using Brightspace as the primary instructional tool. The role also involves liaising with the Adult Education Director and Program Committee, adhering to university policies and mandatory training, and providing input on course relevance and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated subject matter knowledge and expertise related to the relevant adult education literature and the specific course content.
  • Demonstrated successful experience facilitating or teaching adults in an online or hybrid delivery mode, working in an LMS environment, within the last five years preferred.
  • Relevant professional working experience as an educator in the field of adult education, within the last five years preferred.
  • A relevant graduate degree from a recognized university required (MEd in Adult Education or equivalent).
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office 365, or similar technology resources, to support the teaching and learning process.

  • PhD or EdD preferred with an active research agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional duties, including a high level of academic direction, insight, and feedback to learners.
  • Facilitate the learning experience in an exemplary manner adhering to current adult education principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate a high level of instructor presence, stimulate discussion, and foster learner engagement.
  • Develop engaging instructional resources (video, screencast, or podcast) that provide insight and feedback to learners on a weekly basis.
  • Assess and evaluate course assignments while providing meaningful and timely feedback to learners.
  • Use Brightspace as the primary instructional tool for online courses.
  • Utilize the course curriculum as authorized by the Adult Education Director and Program Committee.
  • Provide appropriate academic oversight and input regarding the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of course resources, assignments, and assessment tools and strategies on an annual basis.
  • Liaise with Adult Education Director and Program Committee, instructors, online facilitators and staff as required.
  • Work under the requirements outlined in the Adult Education Program Handbook, Brock University Undergraduate Calendar, and Faculty Handbook.
  • Adhere to the requirements of mandatory training including AODA, Health and Safety Awareness Training, FIPPA, Academic Integrity and other professional development events.
