About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the course ADED 3P55, Ethical Governance in Post-secondary Education. This course explores the theoretical foundations, government agencies, and policies that shape academic structures in Ontario and Canadian universities and colleges. The appointment is for the Fall term, from September 1, 2026, to December 1, 2026, and will be delivered online. The instructor will be responsible for instructional duties, providing academic direction and feedback to learners, developing engaging instructional resources, assessing assignments, and utilizing Brightspace as the primary instructional tool. The role also involves liaising with university staff, adhering to program handbooks and calendars, and completing mandatory training. Requirements

  • Demonstrated subject matter knowledge and expertise related to the relevant adult education literature and the specific course content.
  • Demonstrated successful experience facilitating or teaching adults in an online or hybrid delivery mode, working in an LMS environment, within the last five years preferred.
  • Relevant professional working experience as an educator in the field of adult education, within the last five years preferred.
  • A relevant graduate degree from a recognized university required (MEd in Adult Education or equivalent).
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office 365, or similar technology resources, to support the teaching and learning process.

  • PhD or EdD preferred with an active research agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional duties, including a high level of academic direction, insight, and feedback to learners.
  • Facilitate the learning experience in an exemplary manner adhering to current adult education principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate a high level of instructor presence, stimulate discussion, and foster learner engagement.
  • Develop engaging instructional resources (video, screencast, or podcast) that provide insight and feedback to learners.
  • Assess and evaluate course assignments while providing meaningful and timely feedback to learners.
  • Use Brightspace as the primary instructional tool for online courses.
  • Provide academic oversight and input regarding the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of course resources, assignments, and assessment tools and strategies.
  • Liaise with Adult Education Director and Program Committee, instructors, online facilitators and staff as required.
  • Adhere to the requirements of mandatory training including AODA, Health and Safety Awareness Training, FIPPA, Academic Integrity and other professional development events.
