About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the course ADED 3P94, Popular Culture and Adult Education, for the Fall 2026 term. This online position involves facilitating learning, developing instructional resources, assessing student work, and administering the course under the supervision of the Adult Education Director and Program Committee. The instructor will adhere to adult education principles, stimulate discussion, foster learner engagement, and utilize Brightspace as the primary instructional tool. Responsibilities include liaising with university staff, adhering to program handbooks and calendars, and completing mandatory training. The appointment is from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with an estimated workload of 195 nominal hours.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated subject matter knowledge and expertise related to adult education literature and the specific course content (Popular Culture and Adult Education).
  • Demonstrated successful experience facilitating or teaching adults in an online or hybrid delivery mode within the last five years (preferred).
  • Experience working in an LMS environment within the last five years (preferred).
  • Relevant professional working experience as an educator in the field of adult education within the last five years (preferred).
  • A relevant graduate degree from a recognized university (MEd in Adult Education or equivalent) is required.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office 365, or similar technology resources, to support the teaching and learning process.

  • PhD or EdD preferred with an active research agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional duties with a high level of academic direction, insight, and feedback to learners.
  • Facilitate the learning experience in an exemplary manner adhering to current adult education principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate a high level of instructor presence, stimulate discussion, and foster learner engagement.
  • Develop engaging instructional resources (video, screencast, or podcast) that provide insight and feedback to learners on a weekly basis.
  • Assess and evaluate course assignments while providing meaningful and timely feedback to learners.
  • Use Brightspace as the primary instructional tool for online courses.
  • Utilize the course curriculum and provide academic oversight and input on course resources, assignments, and assessment tools.
  • Liaise with the Adult Education Director and Program Committee, instructors, online facilitators, and staff as required.
  • Adhere to the requirements of mandatory training including AODA, Health and Safety Awareness Training, FIPPA, Academic Integrity, and other professional development events.
