About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the ADED 4P95 course, Evaluating Adult Education Programs, for the Fall 2026 term. This online position involves facilitating the learning experience, developing instructional resources, assessing assignments, and adhering to adult education principles and practices. The instructor will work under the supervision of the Adult Education Director and Program Committee, utilizing Brightspace as the primary instructional tool and contributing to the ongoing relevance of course materials. The role also includes mandatory training and adherence to university and collective agreement policies.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated subject matter knowledge and expertise related to adult education literature and the specific course content.
  • Demonstrated successful experience facilitating or teaching adults in an online or hybrid delivery mode.
  • Experience working in an LMS environment within the last five years (preferred).
  • Relevant professional working experience as an educator in the field of adult education within the last five years (preferred).
  • A relevant graduate degree from a recognized university (MEd in Adult Education or equivalent) required.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office 365, or similar technology resources, to support the teaching and learning process.

  • PhD or EdD preferred with an active research agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional duties, including academic direction, insight, and feedback to learners.
  • Prepare for and deliver lectures and class instruction.
  • Consult with students and provide virtual office hours.
  • Mark and grade student assignments.
  • Administer the course, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
  • Facilitate the learning experience in an exemplary manner adhering to current adult education principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate a high level of instructor presence, stimulate discussion, and foster learner engagement.
  • Develop engaging instructional resources (video, screencast, or podcast) that provide insight and feedback to learners on a weekly basis.
  • Assess and evaluate course assignments while providing meaningful and timely feedback to learners.
  • Use Brightspace as the primary instructional tool for online courses.
  • Utilize the course curriculum and provide academic oversight and input on course resources, assignments, and assessment tools.
  • Liaise with the Adult Education Director, Program Committee, instructors, online facilitators, and staff.
  • Adhere to the requirements outlined in the Adult Education Program Handbook, Brock University Undergraduate Calendar, and Faculty Handbook.
  • Complete mandatory training including AODA, Health and Safety Awareness Training, FIPPA, Academic Integrity, and other professional development events.
