About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Education Instructor for the ADED 3P41 course, "Community Outreach and Adult Literacy," for the Fall 2026 term. This online course introduces community outreach theories, definitions, principles, adult literacy, and social advocacy, focusing on empowering societal change. The instructor will be responsible for facilitating the learning experience, developing instructional resources, assessing assignments, and utilizing Brightspace as the primary instructional tool. The role involves academic oversight and collaboration with the Adult Education Director and Program Committee.

Requirements

Demonstrated subject matter knowledge and expertise related to the relevant adult education literature and the specific course content.
Demonstrated successful experience facilitating or teaching adults in an online or hybrid delivery mode, working in an LMS environment, within the last five years preferred.
Relevant professional working experience as an educator in the field of adult education, within the last five years preferred.
A relevant graduate degree from a recognized university required (MEd in Adult Education or equivalent).
Skill in using Microsoft Office 365, or similar technology resources, to support the teaching and learning process.

PhD or EdD preferred with an active research agenda.

Responsibilities

Provide instructional duties, including a high level of academic direction, insight, and feedback to learners.
Facilitate the learning experience in an exemplary manner adhering to current adult education principles and practices.
Demonstrate a high level of instructor presence, stimulate discussion, and foster learner engagement.
Develop engaging instructional resources (video, screencast, or podcast) that provide insight and feedback to learners on a weekly basis.
Assess and evaluate course assignments while providing meaningful and timely feedback to learners.
Use Brightspace as the primary instructional tool for online courses.
Utilize the course curriculum as authorized by the Adult Education Director and Program Committee.
Provide academic oversight and input regarding the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of course resources, assignments, and assessment tools and strategies on an annual basis.
Liaise with Adult Education Director and Program Committee, instructors, online facilitators and staff as required.
Adhere to the requirements of mandatory training including AODA, Health and Safety Awareness Training, FIPPA, Academic Integrity and other professional development events.
