About The Position

This position collaborates with state and district staff to provide training and technical assistance for the recruitment and identification of children eligible for Title I, Part C Education of Migratory Children services. Responsibilities include supporting districts in developing recruitment plans, timelines, and procedures; producing training materials; and ensuring efficient processing of student records. The position also manages statewide Title I-C data collections and submits required reports to state and federal stakeholders. This includes querying data systems and verifying the accuracy of all information prior to submission to the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development and the U.S. Department of Education.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college, preferably in administration and/or education, AND one year of experience as an Education Associate 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
  • Six years of experience in the broad field of education, counseling or administrative services, two years of which were at the technical/paraprofessional level.
  • Any combination of the above.
  • Graduate study may be substituted for the required specialized experience on a year-for-year basis (in option 2).
  • Undergraduate study, preferably in administration and/or education may also substitute for the generalized experience in option 2 on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of methods for working with data, data systems, spreadsheets, workbooks, and data collections.
  • Anticipates and meets the needs for both internal and external customers.
  • Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement.
  • Helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor.
  • Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.
  • Incumbent must travel to remote parts of Alaska at all times of the year, sometimes in small aircraft or by small boats or ferries.
  • Occasionally, this position is required to spend the night in a school, sleeping in the facility, as there are no hotels in the community.
  • Conducts statewide training (either virtually or in-person) on the identification and recruitment of migratory children during the months of August and September.
  • Personal leave may not be available to the incumbent during August and September.
