About The Position
This position with APD will serve staff and management across the Agency. Your work will impact the workplace culture, our community, and the population we serve as we continuously strive to achieve the Agency’s mission. This is a position established as an Education and Training Specialist Staff Development at Sunland. This positon requires highly responsible, professional work in developing, coordinating, conducting, evaluating and monitoring job and position-specific staff training activities which includes classroom and practice instruction. Prepares and conducts a wide range of developmental services training activities for management, professional and non-professional Sunland and community Developmental Services staff.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift 40lbs independently.
- Must be able to transfer from kneeling to standing position repeatedly.
- Must be able to present training both verbally and written.
- At least one year of prior teaching or training experience.
- Skills in effective classroom teaching/presentations.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments for self.
- Ability to prepare reports utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to present presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Nice To Haves
- CPR Instructor Certification.
- Mandt Instructor Certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Instructs employees in required subjects contributing to a well trained, competent work force.
- Conducts refresher testing/training in assigned units/departments to ensure staff are current with requirements.
- Ensures curriculum in assigned lead classes is up-to-date and is linked to Agency's and Sunland's mission, vision, values and covers current Agency and Sunland policies and procedures.
- Maintains certifications in CPR and other required subject areas, increases expertise with additional certifications to meet the changing needs of employees.
- Perform other related duties as required.
