About The Position

The Training, Education and Employee Development Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive, organization wide training, education, and mentorship framework that equips all Office employees with the tools, knowledge, and support necessary for professional success. This position also collaborates with internal and external partners to identify, analyze, and address systemic challenges related to recruitment, retention, and workforce development. The Training, Education, and Employee Development Specialist reports to the Director of Human Resources and works closely with the Chief of Staff and the Executive Deputy Attorneys General of the Civil, Criminal, and Public Protection Divisions. This role oversees the Office’s training and education initiatives, establishes a structured mentorship program, and leads the Office’s strategic efforts to attract, retain, and develop a high performing workforce. The Training, Education, and Employee Development Specialist also serves as the primary liaison to both the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (PDAA) and the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) on training and professional development opportunities. Applicants should demonstrate significant relevant experience with a proven ability to design and deliver effective training programs. The ideal candidate is collaborative, highly organized, skilled in written and verbal communication, and able to manage multiple complex projects.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution and eight years of relevant experience that would afford the individual the needed knowledge and skills to perform the job OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and six years of relevant experience that would afford the individual the needed knowledge and skills to perform the job OR Master's degree from an accredited institution and five years of relevant experience that would afford the individual the needed knowledge and skills to perform the job OR Graduation from an accredited school of law, admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and four years of relevant experience that would afford the individual the needed knowledge and skills to perform the job OR A combination of relevant education, training, and experience that would afford the individual the needed knowledge and skills to perform the job

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in leadership or as a supervisor strongly preferred
  • Prior work experience in a legal setting or law firm is a plus
  • Proven ability to develop and implement training initiatives
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Establish, oversee, and continuously refine a structured Office wide mentorship program that supports attorney and staff development, fosters cross divisional collaboration, and strengthens long term retention
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding program for all new employees, ensuring a consistent and effective introduction to the Office’s mission, expectations, and resources
  • Design, coordinate, and evaluate continuing education and professional development opportunities for attorneys and staff including skill-based training, leadership development, and subject matter specific programming
  • Proactively identify high quality training opportunities for attorneys across all divisions to assist with meeting Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements
  • Serve as the Office’s liaison to the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association (PDAA) and the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) to expand the Office’s participation in statewide and national training initiatives as well as to promote OAG’s areas of expertise through presenting at such events
  • Assist with facilitating training for the annual Attorney Retreat ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and professional development goals
  • Facilitate “Lunch and Learn” sessions and other informal learning opportunities that support internal knowledge sharing and cross functional engagement
  • Research and make recommendations regarding salary structure, compensation/benefits package and branding/marketing initiatives to Executive Office leadership to support talent acquisition and employee development
  • Coordinate closely with the Recruitment team and the EDAGs of Civil, Criminal, and Public Protection on recruitment initiatives, hiring pipelines, retention strategies, employee engagement initiatives, and workforce data analysis
  • Create, implement, and maintain leadership development programming
