About The Position

The Center for Human and Robot Co-Adaptation (HRC) is a collaborative effort involving six universities: The University of Texas at Austin, Indiana University Bloomington, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University, University of Utah, and Yale University. The Center focuses on the study of how humans and robots adapt to each other over time, considering changes in needs, skills, expectations, and social contexts. It brings together experts in robotics, AI, cognitive science, social science, data, and ethics to pioneer a new field of human-robot co-adaptation. This science will be developed and validated through the Human Environment with Robots (HERO) Facility Network, which involves long-term deployments of assistive robots in various real-world settings such as student dorms, cafés, museums, homes, hospitals, and assisted-living facilities. The Center is funded by a five-year, $30 million award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through its Science and Technology Centers (STC) program. The Education and Outreach Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Center's educational, outreach, and workforce development initiatives. This role involves working closely with Center faculty, staff, students, partner institutions, and external collaborators to create and implement educational programs aimed at increasing participation in science and engineering, enhancing STEM learning pathways, and connecting the Center's research with students, educators, and communities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education, science, engineering, communications, program administration, or a related field.
Experience coordinating educational, outreach, student-support, or STEM-related programs.
Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines. This includes the ability to connect, structure, and track short- and intermediate- term activities to long-term goals.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with participants and organizations representing a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Self-motivation to acquire new skills and knowledge.
Familiarity with, and willingness to assess and adapt the latest tools and technologies as may be helpful for the work.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Coordinate K–12, undergraduate, graduate, and/or community-based education and outreach programs.
Support the development and delivery of workshops, research experiences, internships, mentoring programs, and educator professional-development activities.
Build and maintain relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other Center partners.
Coordinate participant recruitment, program logistics, communications, scheduling, and event planning.
Assist with the creation of educational materials and resources that translate Center research for diverse audiences.
Track participation, outcomes, and other program metrics in collaboration with the Center’s evaluation team.
Contribute to NSF reporting, internal documentation, presentations, and other communications related to education and broader-impact activities.
Support initiatives designed to expand access to and participation in STEM education and careers, aiming to create opportunities for all Americans everywhere.
Coordinate activities across multiple institutions and research teams within the Center.
Perform other related duties in support of the Center’s education and workforce-development mission.
