About The Position

Provide advising, risk management support, educational and administrative services to students considering, participating in or returning from education abroad programs. Assist in the coordination of education abroad activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Three months of relevant experience in education or student-related services.
  • Must be able to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • College or university administrative policies and procedures, education abroad student processes and international education systems
  • Desktop software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite); web-based systems
  • Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication including the ability to relate to wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Project management
  • Organizing information and projects
  • Adhering to deadlines
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and effectively in collaborative groups
  • Organize and prioritize work with a high degree of self-initiative and independence
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Possess considerable attention to detail, a high level of quality control, and maintain a high customer-focus with contacts
  • Assimilate and maintain confidential data
  • Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments to meet deadlines within budget
  • Travel domestically and abroad; must possess or be eligible to obtain a passport
  • Work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must pass a security check.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in related field and education abroad or comparable international experience.
  • Working knowledge of Terra Dotta Systems for education abroad processing.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and counsel students on all aspects of education abroad including but not limited to: program and host country logistics, cost, academics and travel.
  • Act as liaison with host country/University to assist students in all phases of education abroad program.
  • Manage a portfolio of selected education abroad programs.
  • Provide coordination and facilitation of study abroad activities and initiatives
  • Prepare and / or develop education abroad program materials and communications
  • Process study abroad applications and other post-decision and re-entry items for students.
  • Prepare and maintain mandatory education abroad documentation in accordance with university policy, international laws and local/state regulations.
  • Create, manage and report appropriate student and program data using various systems.
  • Monitor risk management, health and safety resources for education abroad programs.
  • Participate in and develop recruitment and persistence programming as it relates to education abroad at the University (e.g., DKS, admissions events, special population events, etc.).
  • Monitor and stay current on applicable laws, policies and procedures as it relates to education abroad (e.g., FERPA, immigration regulations worldwide).
  • May provide guidance and training to student workers, graduate students and/or new advisors.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, or special activities on behalf of unit as determined by supervisor.
  • Collaborate with schools, departments, colleges, faculty members, etc. regarding education abroad programs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
