About The Position

Ericsson Silicon is scaling its custom ASIC capabilities across 5G Advanced and 6G. Central Engineering provides the foundational design methodology, tools, and infrastructure used by silicon programs. The EDA Ecosystem Technical Project Manager will define and drive the tool ecosystem strategy across programs and engineering teams, orchestrating technical program execution, tool lifecycles, resource requirements, vendor partnerships, cross-functional dependencies, and environment readiness. The role does not involve writing RTL, closing timing, or evaluating individual CAD tools, but requires sufficient programmatic and technical depth to challenge infrastructure assumptions and guide informed EDA roadmap decisions.

The position will architect and scale a redefined EDA ecosystem strategy, influence multi-million-dollar investment decisions across a globally distributed organization, and make domain-level recommendations in partnership with CAD, Central Engineering, and Silicon leadership. Success includes enabling engineering teams to access the right tools at the right time, developing strategic vendor relationships, and ensuring EDA investments are data-driven and aligned with silicon program needs.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in the semiconductor or EDA industry, including direct experience in EDA/CAD-related roles such as methodology, infrastructure, vendor-facing work, or technical program management.
• Comprehensive understanding of the RTL-to-GDSII design flow and ability to evaluate tool capabilities and identify flow bottlenecks.
• Deep familiarity with commercial EDA tools from at least two major vendors.
• Proven experience managing strategic EDA vendor relationships, including roadmap discussions, evaluations, statements of work, and executive-level engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions and influence senior engineering leadership without direct authority.
• Track record of managing horizontal domain delivery across multiple programs, teams, and geographies.
• Executive-level communication skills, with concise, precise, and effective communication across engineering, vendor, and leadership audiences.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

Nice To Haves

• Prior hands-on engineering background in CAD/EDA, physical design, or synthesis, with a transition to strategic technical leadership.
• Experience enabling EDA flows for advanced nodes (7nm and below).
• Enterprise-scale EDA license portfolio management involving multi-million-dollar spend and hundreds of users.
• Experience building EDA ecosystems or vendor engagement models from early maturity.
• Multi-site operations experience across the United States and Europe.
• Financial acumen, including contract negotiations, total cost of ownership analysis, and build-versus-buy investment cases.
• Knowledge of AI/ML-enabled EDA capabilities and cloud or hybrid compute strategies.
• Established relationships within the EDA vendor ecosystem at technical and executive levels.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate EDA framework strategy, including tool selection, flow architecture requirements, vendor portfolio management, and coordination of technology-node enablement with CAD leaders.
• Develop a multi-year EDA capability roadmap, aligning tactical and strategic plans with engineering requirements and the silicon product roadmap.
• Align vendor roadmaps, structure tool evaluations, and lead negotiations and management of statements of work and technology access agreements.
• Monitor emerging technologies, including AI/ML-enabled EDA and cloud-native solutions, and drive collaborative build-versus-buy frameworks.
• Own EDA license portfolio strategy, including utilization optimization, demand forecasting, renewal planning, and cost reduction.
• Drive design environment capacity planning for compute, storage, and licenses, and develop spend forecasts using CAD infrastructure inputs.
• Build budget estimates and conduct total cost of ownership analyses for EDA ecosystem decisions.
• Support technical and methodology changes across engineering sections and facilitate cross-functional access to tools, infrastructure, and automation.
• Partner with CAD Engineering Managers to align EDA ecosystem decisions with domain enablement needs and delivery priorities.
• Coordinate EDA consistency across sites and build collaboration among internal teams and external partners.
