About The Position

The Ecommerce Developer joins UNRL's Tech Team and works closely with the Sales Team, Ecommerce Team, B2B and D2C site owners, and external partners. The role focuses primarily on improving and maintaining UNRL's Shopify storefronts, while also contributing to custom Shopify apps, internal tools, integrations, and expansion into new sales channels. The developer owns assigned features from requirements through testing and release, troubleshoots production issues, makes architectural recommendations, documents work, and applies professional judgment to AI-generated code. Success means delivering user-friendly, high-performing, technically sound, and scalable ecommerce experiences that support customer experience and business growth.

Requirements

At least 4 years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years of Shopify development.
Hands-on Shopify development experience with themes, Online Store 2.0, metafields and metaobjects, and the Admin and Storefront APIs.
Experience building or extending Shopify apps and integrations.
Working knowledge of Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript sufficient to read, review, and correct AI-generated code.
Strong understanding of APIs, webhooks, and data flows between ecommerce and back-office systems.
Experience with version control, code reviews, debugging, and safe production releases.
Working knowledge of site performance, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools to increase speed and output on real projects, with judgment to evaluate recommendations and make independent decisions.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills with technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to make sound architectural recommendations and work independently with limited oversight.
Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex, and modern deployment tooling.

Nice To Haves

Experience with React or other modern front-end frameworks, or with serverless and custom backend integrations.
Experience integrating with ERP, CRM, EDI, wholesale, or marketplace platforms.
Experience with storefront analytics, tag management, and privacy and consent handling.
Experience in apparel, fashion, or lifestyle brands, ideally across both D2C and wholesale.

Responsibilities

Use AI-powered development tools to work efficiently and validate AI-generated work before release.
Partner with B2B and D2C site owners to improve Shopify storefronts, including product pages, collections, cart, customer accounts, search, and product discovery.
Build and refine the B2B experience, including layout, navigation, and customer utilities for wholesale accounts.
Implement D2C design changes and storefront improvements in collaboration with design and agency partners.
Contribute to custom Shopify apps and internal tools, including tools used by the Sales Team, and support expansion into new sales channels.
Implement and maintain third-party apps and integrations with ERP, CRM, and fulfillment systems.
Improve site speed, mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and technical performance, and reduce technical debt.
Own assigned features from requirements through release; troubleshoot production issues, recommend architectures, document work, and bring best practices to UNRL.
Coordinate development priorities with Technology, Sales, Ecommerce, and external partners.
