About The Position

The echocardiography sonographer independently performs adult echocardiograms and reports preliminary impressions as indicated. Exams are performed within standard protocols guided by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography (ICAEL). The role performs stationary and portable exams in inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings, including transthoracic, transesophageal, dobutamine, and stress exercise echocardiograms. The sonographer also performs contrast and bubble studies to enhance image quality and completes other duties and assignments as directed.

Requirements

• Graduation from an echocardiography program is required.
• Must obtain an appropriate credential (RDCS, RCS, or CRCS) within one year from the date of graduation from an echocardiography program.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform adult echocardiograms and report preliminary impressions as indicated.
• Perform exams within ICAEL-guided standard protocols.
• Perform stationary and portable exams in inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings.
• Perform transthoracic, transesophageal, dobutamine, and stress exercise echocardiograms.
• Perform contrast and bubble studies to enhance image quality.
• Complete other duties and assignments as directed.
