About The Position

Catherine Cook School seeks a vibrant and innovative Spanish teacher long-term substitute to join our teaching team. The Spanish program builds listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and lays a foundation in grammar and vocabulary appropriate for a variety of life situations. An emphasis is also placed on the study and appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures. Applicants should be experienced in differentiating learning for a wide range of children’s abilities and interests. We follow a responsive approach to social-emotional learning.

Requirements

Ability to develop academically challenging, appropriately differentiated Spanish curricula
Utilize a TPR/TPRS or story-telling approach to world language instruction
Experience teaching using the Comprehensible-Input approach
Use a wide range of authentic assessment strategies
Be responsive to and enjoy students from Preschool through 4th grade
Communicate thoughtfully, respectfully, and clearly with parents/guardians
Create thoughtful, well-written progress reports
Work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team
Be willing to participate actively in discussions about cultural, racial, and other identities with students and colleagues
