About The Position

Graland Country Day School is seeking a Middle School Spanish teacher for a long-term substitute position from November 9, 2026, to June 9, 2027. The role involves working closely with students in grades 5-8, fostering a love of learning, and developing necessary skills. The teacher will manage four classes at various grade levels, collaborate with the World Language department on curriculum and lesson plans, and potentially serve as a grade-level advisor, focusing on both academic needs and social-emotional well-being. Responsibilities may also include coaching sports, chaperoning overnight trips, sponsoring clubs, and working with the Gates Innovation Lab. The position requires a collaborative individual skilled in working with students, faculty, and families, who models caring, respect, patience, and an appreciation for differences.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching Middle School students and/or Spanish preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Fluent in Spanish (native or near-native speaker).
  • Experience with integration of Spanish and other disciplines for units of study at each grade level.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administration, and parents/guardians.
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Ease with technology, adoption of the LMS, as well as other technology programs and tools to engage learners.
  • Ability to chaperone students on day excursions, as well as overnight trips.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Desire to coach student athletics, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach four classes at various grade levels (Grades 5-8).
