Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers to support after-school care for children ages 3–4 at K–12 schools across the Washington, D.C. area during the 2026–27 school year. Assignments begin at 2 p.m.; candidates should be available Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The role offers flexible scheduling, with candidates choosing assignments and schools close to home. Assignments may include lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and testing-season proctoring. The role may provide a path to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools. Pay is $85 per half-day assignment and $170 per full-day assignment lasting more than four hours, with weekly paychecks through W-2 employment. Kokua offers free professional development and support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Candidates willing to accept morning-of assignments are preferred. Applications are being accepted for the 2026–27 school year, and interviews can begin immediately.
