About The Position

The Construction Manager – Electrical is responsible for the overall planning, execution, coordination, and leadership of all electrical construction activities for power generation projects, including simple-cycle and combined-cycle gas turbine facilities. This role provides strategic oversight of field operations, ensuring electrical work is safely executed in accordance with project requirements, schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations. The Construction Manager serves as the primary leader for electrical construction efforts and works closely with project management, engineering, procurement, commissioning, subcontractors, and client stakeholders to drive successful project delivery from construction through startup and turnover.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15+ years of electrical and heavy industrial construction experience, including significant experience in power generation projects.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a Construction Manager, Senior Superintendent, or equivalent leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing electrical construction activities on simple-cycle and combined-cycle gas turbine power plants.
  • Extensive knowledge of: Electrical power distribution systems, Medium- and low-voltage installations, Cable tray, conduit, and raceway systems, Switchgear, transformers, substations, and MCCs, Startup, commissioning, and energization processes.
  • Proven ability to lead large field organizations, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary construction teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, project controls, budgeting, cost management, and productivity tracking.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent field experience considered.
  • NCCER certification, Journeyman Electrician credential, or other relevant trade certification.
  • Experience with EPC power generation projects.
  • Experience managing utility-scale, renewable energy, or large industrial power projects.
  • Familiarity with union and non-union labor environments.
  • Experience with field construction management software and project controls systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and management of electrical construction activities on assigned projects.
  • Develop and implement construction execution strategies that align with project goals, schedule milestones, and budget requirements.
  • Direct and oversee Electrical Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, subcontractors, and craft personnel.
  • Coordinate electrical construction activities with civil, mechanical, structural, instrumentation, and commissioning teams.
  • Lead construction planning meetings, progress reviews, and coordination sessions with project stakeholders.
  • Ensure construction activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and client standards.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Controls teams to develop and maintain detailed construction schedules.
  • Identify critical-path activities, resource requirements, and schedule risks.
  • Forecast manpower, equipment, and material needs to support project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and implement recovery plans as necessary to maintain schedule commitments.
  • Drive productivity improvements and optimize field operations to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide management oversight for the installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover of: Electrical power distribution systems, Medium- and low-voltage systems, Cable tray, conduit, and raceway systems, Switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), and substations, Grounding and lightning protection systems, Lighting systems, Control wiring and instrumentation interfaces, Turbine generator electrical systems, Balance-of-plant electrical infrastructure, Startup, energization, and commissioning activities.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, company, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Lead safety initiatives, audits, incident reviews, and corrective action programs.
  • Ensure effective pre-task planning, job hazard analyses, and risk mitigation strategies are implemented throughout the project.
  • Promote proactive safety engagement among supervisory and craft personnel.
  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Oversee quality control processes, inspections, testing activities, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance/Quality Control teams to resolve deficiencies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and other applicable regulatory and industry standards.
  • Serve as the primary electrical construction representative with clients, engineering teams, vendors, subcontractors, and commissioning personnel.
  • Support project reporting, forecasting, and executive-level updates on project performance.
  • Facilitate issue resolution related to constructability, field engineering, labor productivity, material availability, and schedule impacts.
  • Foster strong working relationships with project stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead electrical turnover, startup, commissioning, and system energization activities.
  • Coordinate punch-list resolution and closeout documentation.
  • Support operational readiness reviews and transition of completed systems to the owner.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed in accordance with contractual requirements.
