The Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) operates the automated and fixed station keeping system of the MODU while on location and acts as Officer in Charge of the Navigational Watch (OICNW) while underway. This role involves monitoring control room alarms, operating the Ballast Control System, Power Management System, and Fire and Gas Detection Systems, and maintaining the vessel in a stable condition. The DPO also assists in setting up DP System operational parameters, ensuring data recording, advising on potential position loss or equipment malfunctions, and assisting with maintenance on DP equipment. The position requires understanding basic drill floor operations, maintaining operational awareness, supporting DP operations planning, managing the 500-meter zone, and standing safe navigational watch as required. A basic understanding of the vessel’s DP FMEA, Proving Trials, SSOC, drift off calculations, riser analysis, and data logger operations is also necessary. The DPO will assist with rig move plans, maintain nautical publications and charts, and perform emergency duties as per the Station Bill and relevant plans.
