About The Position

MTM Transit, in partnership with Valley Metro, is hiring full-time, entry-level, non-CDL Paratransit Shuttle Bus Drivers in Peoria, Arizona. Drivers provide safe, reliable transportation and personalized service to passengers, including older adults and individuals with disabilities. The role involves helping passengers board and exit the vehicle, assisting with mobility devices and their securement, ensuring timely pickups and drop-offs, inspecting the vehicle, completing required paperwork, and using electronic devices for work. Three weeks of onsite training will take place at MTM Transit’s Gilbert location near Arizona Avenue and Elliot Road. Training classes start every week. Shifts are assigned after training. The position pays $21.50 per hour and offers a monthly safety bonus, referral bonus program, paid training, overtime, paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental and vision benefits, a 401(k) with company match, and internal career growth opportunities. Candidates must be available seven days a week within the operating window of 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.; schedules are 35–40 or more hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid U.S. driver’s license held for the past three years.
Valid authorization to work in Arizona and the United States.
Ability to pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screening.
Must pass a criminal background investigation and Motor Vehicle Record check.
No reckless driving in the past five years.
No DUI or DWI convictions in the past ten years.
No more than one moving violation during each of the last three years.
If a license was previously revoked, at least three full years after reinstatement with no violations.
Schedule flexibility and availability seven days a week between 4:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.; shifts are assigned after training.
Ability to use a tablet, GPS, two-way radio, or other electronic device.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to communicate with others and comprehend instructions.
Ability to understand highway traffic signs, signals, maps, manifests, and schedules.
Ability to obtain knowledge of FTA, ADA, and DOT regulations.
Familiarity with the main roadways and major highways in the service area.

Responsibilities

Provide safe and reliable transportation.
Demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills.
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Assist passengers with loading and unloading from the vehicle.
Assist with mobility devices and securement as required by safety protocols.
Ensure on-time passenger pickups and drop-offs.
Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Complete required vehicle pre-trip, post-trip, and DVI inspections.
Complete required paperwork.
Use tablets or other electronic devices as required.
