About The Position

Drivers play an important role in helping children with autism feel safe, supported, and cared for during transportation to and from the program. This role is more than driving — it’s about creating a calm, positive environment, building trust with clients, and helping children transition successfully between home and school each day. Drivers work closely with staff to support safety, consistency, and positive experiences for every child. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • No previous experience required
  • This position requires driving - minimum age of 21 and a current driver’s license
  • Valley de-escalation certification
  • For DOT vehicles - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement
  • For DOT vehicles - Department of Transportation Health Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all safety policies and procedures while operating vehicle
  • Transports clients to and from Valley locations
  • Maintains knowledge of the routes, locations of stops, and the clients who board or exit at each stop
  • Coordinates with and supports employees who accompany clients and assists with behavior management on the vehicle
  • Maintains interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness
  • Follows emergency procedures and reports incidents as required
  • Maintains required transportation records
  • Vans must be kept at a Valley property when not in use. Drivers may be able to keep the vehicle at the closest location to their home in between working hours.
