About The Position
Garelick Farms, Dairy Farmers of America, is seeking a 3rd Shift Driver-Yard/Plant Non-CDL. This role involves operating shuttles to move trailers within the facility and to staging areas, adhering to all safety practices and DOT regulations. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience driving or shuttling tractor trailers preferred
- Must meet minimum age requirements
- Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
- Must meet all DOT requirements
- Certification and/or License – driver’s license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
- Basic knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
- Able to perform the duties of this role in all weather conditions
- Able to communicate effectively
- Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
- Able to follow directions and meet deadlines
- Able to be punctual
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good record keeping skills
- Basic math skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and DFA rules, regulations, and policies adhering to all safety practices
- Receive instructions via radio and perform trailer shuttling to accommodate logistical needs
- Perform daily maintenance checks of shuttle truck and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person
- Document all trailer moves into the appropriate system or daily move sheet; submit sheet to appropriate person upon the completion of the shift
- Fuel the yard truck as needed
- Couple and uncouple tractor trailer units
- Connect and disconnect brake lines as needed
- Perform safety check inspection of the trailer according to DOT regulations
- Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
- Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with local staff; report any problems to the supervisor
- Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
- Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals
