About The Position

The Driver Manager is responsible for assigning jobs to ensure efficient driver operations, enforcing company policies, and ensuring work is conducted safely. The role builds and maintains professional relationships with drivers, communicates effectively with customers, maximizes driver and equipment utilization, schedules loads, and supports timely movement of loaded trucks. Duties also include entering load information in TMW, preparing delivery receipts, sharing load documentation and details with drivers, maintaining customer specifications and Safety Data Sheets, reviewing drivers’ Hours of Service logs, and preparing or forwarding reports. The position addresses employee and customer concerns, helps prevent waste and lost time, monitors risk, and ensures compliance with company, OSHA, DOT, and other applicable safety requirements. The role reports to the Terminal Manager and typically operates in a standard office environment using computers, phones, and scanners.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and similar applications.
Minimum 5 years of related experience.
Familiarity with DOT and OSHA regulations.
Willingness to travel to the corporate office and other locations as needed.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
Strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills.
Solid communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a fast-paced organization.

Responsibilities

Assign jobs and schedule loads for qualified drivers to ensure efficient driver operations.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with drivers and address their needs.
Communicate with customers in a timely and effective manner to provide a high level of service.
Maximize driver availability and equipment utilization to support revenue and profitability.
Review dispatch sheets and driver assignments to confirm all loads are dispatched.
Review orders and process or distribute them according to terminal procedures.
Ensure timely and efficient movement of loaded trucks carrying various products.
Enter load information into the TMW system and prepare delivery receipts for each load.
Provide drivers with documentation and pertinent information for scheduled loads.
Initiate and maintain customer specifications and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for products hauled.
Review drivers’ Hours of Service logs for available hours and update hours in the computer as required.
Update and forward reports as directed by terminal management.
Perform other duties as specified by terminal or corporate management.
Incorporate measures to prevent waste and lost time.
Effectively address concerns from employees and customers.
Ensure compliance with safety rules, including applicable OSHA and DOT requirements; enforce and practice company and government-agency safety rules and monitor risk.
Understand and follow established policies and procedures in emergency situations.
