Requirements

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public
• Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
• Twenty-one years of age at the time of application
• No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment
• Must be able to perform essential job functions
• Must meet the PA residency requirement

Nice To Haves

• Obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment (required for hires after February 28, 2022)

Responsibilities

• Determine driving abilities and check vehicles for required mechanical conditions
• Administer vision screenings and assess applicants using standardized tools
• Conduct written examinations to confirm understanding of laws and traffic signs
• Examine documents and use systems to authenticate identities and detect fraud
• Issue licensing products and provide guidance on renewals, transfers, and specialty license requirements
• Follow REAL ID rules, customer service policies, fee waiver guidelines, and Title VI procedures
