Requirements
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
- Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
- Twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
Nice To Haves
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct driving, skills, and knowledge examinations to ensure applicants understand safe driving practices
- Examine identity documents and verify authenticity to prevent fraud and confirm eligibility
- Inspect motor vehicles for proper safety features and determine readiness for testing
- Provide information on licensing processes, renewals, transfers, and related services
- Process applications, update records, and issue license products to qualified applicants
- Follow all policies including REAL ID regulations, customer service standards, and fee waiver guidelines
