About The Position

The Driver Helper assists the driver with unloading and delivering products along routes with multiple stops. The role places delivered products in customer-designated storage locations while maintaining delivery accuracy and preventing damage from mishandling. The Driver Helper follows company safety standards and represents Ben E. Keith Company professionally, with a positive attitude and appropriate dress. The role also assists with reading maps and directions and reports delays, accidents, and other traffic or transportation situations to the base.

Ben E. Keith uses dash cameras with artificial intelligence to recognize safe driving, capture safety events, improve driver safety performance, and help exonerate drivers in accidents. Drivers sign a consent form upon hire confirming their understanding of the cameras.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• High school education or GED required.
• Able to perform repetitive lifting of over 50 pounds and occasional lifting of over 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Must be able to walk extensively and stand for long periods.
• Must be able to bend at the waist, stoop, and squat to lift heavy items properly.
• Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, feet, and legs.
• Must be able to read numbers and product descriptions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver with routes involving multiple delivery stops.
• Help unload and deliver products.
• Place products in storage locations designated by each customer.
• Maintain delivery accuracy and prevent damage caused by mishandling.
• Follow company safety standards.
• Represent Ben E. Keith Company professionally, maintaining a positive attitude and dress code.
• Assist the driver with reading maps and directions.
• Report delays, accidents, and other traffic or transportation situations to the base.
