About The Position

The Driver Helper assists the driver with day-to-day activities, including loading and unloading the truck and other duties needed by the driver. The role also involves handling freight and supporting delivery operations while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a safe work environment.

Requirements

Ability to read a map and general geographic knowledge of the area.
Ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted; also stated as the ability to lift 50 or more pounds unassisted.
Good customer service skills.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Ability to read and comprehend work instructions.
Ability to work well with others, including with little supervision.
High attention to detail.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands, reach, bend, and lift objects above the head.
Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and use pallet jacks and forklifts.
Ability to regularly use a phone and PC and read and write shipping documents.

Responsibilities

Accurately load the daily route onto the truck and scan the route onto the truck.
Assist the driver with navigating to deliveries and carrying freight to business or residential destinations.
Use the manifest to pull and stage freight and help drivers load and unload trucks.
Perform material handling duties such as picking, packing, scanning, kitting when applicable, and counting products.
Complete packaging and systems work accurately and on time.
Identify and annotate overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D).
Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
Read and follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a safe and secure work environment in accordance with TSA and OSHA guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
