Driver - Helper
About The Position
The Driver Helper assists the driver with unloading and delivering products along routes with multiple stops. The position places products in customer-assigned storage locations, maintains delivery accuracy and prevents product damage through proper handling, and follows company safety standards. The Driver Helper represents Ben E. Keith Company professionally, maintains a positive attitude and dress code, assists with maps and directions, and reports delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to the base. Driver safety is important to Ben E. Keith. The company uses dash cameras with artificial intelligence to recognize safe driving, capture safety events, and improve driver safety performance. Video may also be used to exonerate drivers in accidents. Drivers sign a consent form upon hire to confirm their understanding.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- High school education or GED required.
- Able to perform repetitive lifting of over 50 pounds and occasional lifting of over 100 pounds.
- Able to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Able to walk extensively and stand for long periods.
- Able to bend at the waist, stoop, and squat to lift heavy items properly.
- Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, feet, and legs.
- Must be able to read numbers and product descriptions.
Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with routes that include multiple delivery stops.
- Unload and deliver products.
- Place delivered products in customer-assigned storage locations.
- Maintain delivery accuracy and prevent product damage through proper handling.
- Follow the company’s safety standards.
- Represent Ben E. Keith Company professionally while maintaining a positive attitude and dress code.
- Assist the driver with reading maps and directions.
- Report delays, accidents, and other traffic or transportation situations to the base.
