The Florida Safety Council is seeking a part-time Driver Education Instructor to provide behind-the-wheel practical instruction to students of all ages in a Florida Safety Council-approved vehicle. The instructor promotes a safe learning environment and follows company and department policies and procedures. Prior driver education instructor experience is not necessary; paid training is provided. The position is based in Lakeland, Florida, pays $20 per hour, and requires 20–25 hours per week, including weekends. Bilingual ability is preferred. The Council is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1953. Its mission is to reduce preventable injuries and save lives through safety and health training, professional testing, and monitoring. Employees enjoy a relaxed, family-type atmosphere, work/life balance, and birthday and service-anniversary recognition. Instructors demonstrate and verbally teach driving maneuvers needed for the state road test, ensure students receive required instruction hours, and complete relevant student and lesson documentation. They also verify student eligibility and attire, inspect vehicles with students before lessons, follow traffic laws and seat-belt requirements, maintain vehicle and sanitization supplies, and perform related administrative duties. If applicable, Driver License Examiners conduct and score road performance tests and inspect vehicles for safe operation. Applicants must satisfy Florida certification and driving-record requirements, pass required screening, and complete the required state-approved training and examinations. A college degree is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required.
