About The Position

Nicholas and Company is seeking a responsible Driver Assistant to safely assist Delivery Drivers with distributing products to customers. The role provides an opportunity to learn Delivery Driver responsibilities and potentially obtain a Class A CDL through the company. After obtaining a Class A CDL, the employee will transition to a Delivery Driver role. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 2:30 AM and continuing until finished. Pay is $21.80–$25.00 per hour, based on experience. The employee must perform essential duties efficiently, accurately, and safely, with or without accommodation, and comply with company policies and procedures as well as state, federal, and safety regulations.

Requirements

At least 21 years of age.
Clean driving record with fewer than two violations.
Willingness to obtain a Class A CDL.
Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Learn to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Use ramps, stairs, and/or docks with a two-wheeled hand truck dolly.
Learn how the fleet management system works to track stops and locations.
Familiarize yourself with DOT regulations and Nicholas and Company safety policies.
Assist with deliveries, placing products in the designated customer delivery area when Delivery Drivers do so.
Demonstrate strong customer service and problem-solving skills, and immediately report customer issues, including delivery variances, to a supervisor or sales staff.
Check invoices for credit terms, sign and code them at each stop, collect funds when needed, and submit the reconciliation sheet, collected funds, and invoices to the Returns Clerk at the end of the route.
