Roto-Rooter is hiring Drain Service Technicians to diagnose and resolve customers’ sewer and drain problems. Technicians assess the issue, provide cost estimates, perform drain and sewer cleaning using company equipment and tools, document estimates and invoices in writing and on a provided smartphone, collect payment, and proceed to the next service call. The role involves extensive driving and entering customers’ homes to provide service, including interactions with vulnerable populations such as children and elderly people. New technicians receive 12 weeks of paid sewer and drain service training, with continued training available for those interested in learning the plumbing trade and pursuing a journeyman plumber’s license. First-year technicians can expect to earn an average of $55,000, with pay increasing as experience grows. During training, technicians earn $16 per hour. After training, they receive an hourly rate at or above minimum wage for all hours worked; administrative hours may be paid at a rate between minimum wage and $70.19. Technicians may also earn commissions of 16–22% of revenue, depending on revenue category, and $10–$155 commissions for selling products and treatments.
