DOT Delivery Assistant
About The Position
The DOT Delivery Assistant supports furniture delivery operations by delivering and setting up merchandise in customers’ homes. The role involves working with a delivery team to provide safe, professional service, stay within customer delivery windows, and uphold the company’s focus on customer service, integrity, quality, and teamwork. Assistants may operate the delivery vehicle when needed and may help in the warehouse or showroom as required. Routes operate four days per week, excluding Sundays. Shifts begin at 7:30 a.m. and continue until route completion. The role requires driving or riding in Havertys delivery trucks, wearing company-provided uniforms and required safety footwear and gear, and completing physical work that includes handling furniture and other materials. Paid training and company-paid DOT certification are provided. The position pays $19.50–$29.50 per hour based on experience.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A current driver’s license and a clean driving record with minimal moving violations are required.
- Must be willing and able to push, pull, and repeatedly team-lift 150 pounds throughout the shift.
- Must be able to achieve DOT certification; the company pays for certification.
- Must pass background requirements and a drug screen, including THC testing.
- Must successfully complete a physical assessment.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull furniture weighing up to 150 pounds.
- Must wear company-provided uniforms and steel-toed work boots or shoes; safety gear is required when applicable.
Nice To Haves
- Delivery experience is preferred, but not required; training is provided.
Responsibilities
- Operate the delivery vehicle, when needed, in a safe and courteous manner.
- Deliver and set up furniture in customers’ homes.
- Stay within customer delivery time windows while maintaining high performance.
- Accurately communicate and document delivery transactions using a mobile device or provided paperwork.
- Load or unload products at customers’ homes, stores, or the warehouse as needed.
- Assist in the warehouse or showroom when needed.
- Follow instructions and perform other duties requested by a supervisor.
