About The Position

As a member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods to locations in all 50 states. This role works independently to bake, fry, decorate, package, display, and stock bakery products, while helping ensure the shift contributes to the store’s financial best interest. The associate also completes other assigned duties in a timely manner. Baking and frying duties are determined by the production schedule and account for approximately 80% of the time.

The position is based at 710 S. Mill, Clio, Michigan 48420-1491. The work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bake and fry products according to the production schedule.
• Price, date, wrap, and/or bag bakery products.
• Fill, rotate, and merchandise bakery shelves, cases, and displays.
• Notify the Bakery Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise.
• Become familiar with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
• Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
• Follow PPE and safety guidelines, food safety and cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
• Perform tasks in other departments when needed to support customer experience.
• Complete other assigned responsibilities in a timely manner.
