About The Position

The Donut Finisher works in Hy-Vee’s Bakery, preparing and finishing donuts, bagels, danishes, and other bakery items for the display case. The role includes glazing, icing, garnishing, preparing special orders, and maintaining an inviting customer experience through prompt and friendly service. The employee prepares the work area and equipment, helps ready icings and the glazing area for the following day, and keeps the work area clean and organized. Training is provided. A high school diploma or equivalent experience is required, and the posting states that six months or less of similar or related experience is needed. Applicants must be at least 18. Employment is contingent on successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Six months or less of similar or related experience; training is provided.
• Follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail.
• Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions, and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team to support customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
• Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers positively at the counter or elsewhere in the store.
• Prepare the work area and equipment for donut finishing at the start of each shift.
• Remove donuts and rolls from the freezer and prepare them for finishing, including placing danishes and cinnamon rolls in the proof box.
• Heat donuts and rolls in the oven before glazing or icing, then ice and garnish them for the donut case.
• Review special orders and prepare them as needed.
• Prepare icings and the glazing area for the following day.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.
• Follow personal hygiene and dress standards.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful customer service.
• Assist customers at the counter and help in other store areas as needed.
• Follow Hy-Vee policies and individual store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
