About The Position

The Donut Finisher works in the Bakery Department to ensure the bakery case is stocked with fresh, attractively finished donuts, bagels, and danishes. The role involves preparing and finishing baked goods, maintaining an orderly and sanitary work area, and providing friendly customer service. Training is provided. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Six months or less of similar or related experience; training is provided.
Follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions, and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to support customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers positively in the store or at the counter.
Prepare the work area and equipment for donut finishing at the start of each shift.
Remove donuts and rolls from the freezer and prepare them for finishing, including placing danishes and cinnamon rolls in the proof box.
Heat donuts and rolls in the oven before glazing or icing; then ice and garnish items for the donut case.
Review special orders and prepare them as needed.
Prepare icings and the glazing area for the following day.
Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards.
Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to callers.
Assist customers at the counter and in other areas of the store as needed.
Follow Hy-Vee policies and individual store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
