About The Position

The Donut Finisher helps keep the Bakery case stocked with fresh, attractively finished donuts, bagels, and danishes. The role involves hands-on preparation and finishing work, including glazing, icing, garnishing, and presentation, while providing friendly customer service and contributing to a welcoming customer experience. Training is provided.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Six months or less of similar or related experience.
Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detail.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team to support customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers positively at the counter and elsewhere in the store.
Prepare the work area and equipment for donut finishing at the start of each shift.
Remove donuts and rolls from the freezer and prepare them for finishing, including placing danishes and cinnamon rolls in the proof box.
Heat donuts and rolls in the oven before glazing or icing them, then finish and garnish them for the donut case.
Review special orders and prepare them as needed.
Prepare icings and the glazing area for the following day.
Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards.
Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to customers who call.
Assist customers at the counter and help in other areas of the store as needed.
Follow Hy-Vee policies and individual store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
