About The Position

The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers dropping off items at retail centers or stand-alone donation centers. The associate provides friendly, efficient customer service, helps unload donations, and handles donated goods with care and respect. This position works outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures. The role may be assigned to retail-center or remote donation-center locations and may include duties in other departments as needed.

The position is part-time and pays $17.01 per hour. It is eligible for DailyPay, which lets employees access earned pay on their own schedule. Part-time employees in the Retail and Sales/Operations Division are eligible for paid holidays, sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. Employees may contribute to the retirement plan on a pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) basis; participation requires being at least 18 years old. Goodwill of Colorado is an eligible employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Requirements

• Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.

• Basic computer skills, including logging into a computer system to order supplies and sending and receiving email.
• Ability to work in varied weather conditions and temperatures.
• Ability to use safety equipment, such as a dolly or pallet jack, to assist with lifting heavy objects.
• Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.
• Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including frequent lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling or crawling, squatting, and continuous walking and standing.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly, answer product questions as needed, and provide excellent, friendly customer service.
• Assist customers by unloading donations from vehicles or other areas.
• Handle donated items carefully and sort them into appropriate bins or production areas.
• Inspect donations and determine their quality and whether they should go to the sales floor or be shipped to another location.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment in donation entrances and parking lot areas.
• When assigned to a remote donation center, shed, or trailer, follow opening and closing procedures and keep supplies stocked.
• Track and report donation levels daily at remote centers to prevent trailers from becoming overstocked.
• Communicate promptly when a donation warehouse or trailer is becoming full and a truck is needed.
• Follow retail-center and donation-center policies, procedures, and safety processes.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading donations onto trucks when necessary.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and provide backup as required.
• Report to the store ADC or a stand-alone center when necessary.
• Perform additional duties as required.
