The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers dropping off items at retail centers or stand-alone donation centers. The associate greets customers promptly and courteously, answers questions, and may help unload donations from vehicles or other areas. They handle donated goods with care, inspect and sort items for the sales floor or shipment to other locations, and help maintain a safe, organized, and clean donation entrance and parking lot. When assigned to a remote donation center, the associate may maintain the site, shed, or trailer; follow opening and closing procedures; keep supplies stocked; track and report donation levels; and communicate when a trailer or warehouse is becoming full and a truck is needed. The role also involves assisting drivers with loading and unloading, following center policies and safety procedures, cross-training or backing up other areas, and reporting to a store or stand-alone center when necessary. The work takes place outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures. The position may include duties beyond those listed as needed.
