About The Position

The Donation Processing Associate works at The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Clarkston, Michigan, serving as an initial point of contact for donors. The role combines donor service, donation processing, and support for production operations, helping convert donated goods into funding for community programs. Paid training is provided in donation processes, production standards, and store procedures, along with ongoing coaching and support from store leadership. The position is part-time, scheduled for 25 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Requirements

High school diploma or currently pursuing a high school diploma.
Strong English communication skills for interactions with donors and team members.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
Basic math skills.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Availability for a flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods and walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
Ability to work in various weather conditions, including outdoor exposure.

Responsibilities

Greet donors, provide assistance, and deliver exceptional donor service.
Process and track donations accurately, including donation tracking and receipting.
Maintain a clean and well-organized donation area.
Sort, load, and unload Salvation Army trucks according to center policy.
Power sort donations as they arrive, where applicable.
Support production processes as needed.
Safeguard donated materials and assigned equipment.
Report complaints, damage, or injuries occurring in the donation area.
Guide donors on acceptable materials and provide information about pickup services for heavy items.
