About The Position

The Donation Processing Associate is the first point of contact for donors at The Salvation Army Thrift Store. The role combines donor customer service, donation processing, and mission-driven work that supports community programs. The position is part-time, scheduled for 25 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Paid training is provided in donation processing, production standards, and store procedures, with ongoing coaching and support from store leadership. The role also offers an opportunity to build retail and customer service skills.

Requirements

High school diploma or currently pursuing a high school diploma.
Strong English communication skills for donor and team interactions.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
Basic math skills.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Availability for a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
Ability to work in various weather conditions, including outdoor exposure.

Responsibilities

Greet donors, offer assistance, and provide exceptional donor service.
Process and track donations accurately.
Maintain a clean, well-organized donation area.
Sort, load, and unload Salvation Army trucks according to center policy.
Power sort donations as they arrive, where applicable.
Support production processes as needed.
Safeguard donated materials and assigned equipment.
Report complaints, damage, or injuries occurring in the donation area.
Guide donors on acceptable materials and provide information about pickup services for heavy items.
