Dog Sitter
About The Position
The Comforted Kitty is seeking reliable, responsible pet lovers to provide in-home dog or cat sitting visits and dog walking in the Charleston, South Carolina metro area. Sitters work independently as part-time contractors, choose their availability and service area, and are matched with clients. The role involves caring for pets while their owners are away and building trust with repeat clients. Services include walks lasting 30–90 minutes, drop-in visits of 30, 45, or 60 minutes, extended daytime visits of 2–8 hours, overnight stays of 10–12 hours, and 24-hour live-in care. Visits may include feeding and refreshing water, cleaning up waste, providing playtime and companionship, sending updates and photos through the company app, following care instructions, and performing requested household tasks. Medication may be administered when it is within the sitter’s experience and comfort level. Weekend, holiday, morning, afternoon, and evening availability is especially valuable. Sitters are paid per visit, with rates typically starting around $25 per 30-minute visit and higher pay for longer visits, overnight care, and house sitting. The company offers weekly direct deposit, bonus opportunities, and sitters keep 100% of tips.
Requirements
- Experience caring for dogs or cats, especially in a pet-sitting capacity.
- Confidence handling dogs from small to large.
- Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Comfort working independently in clients’ homes.
- A smartphone with reliable internet access and a camera.
Nice To Haves
- Experience administering oral medication, injections, or fluids.
- Availability on weekends and holidays.
- Availability in the morning, afternoon, or evening.
Responsibilities
- Feed pets and refresh their water.
- Clean up pet waste.
- Provide playtime, affection, and companionship suited to each pet.
- Send visit updates and photos through the company app.
- Follow each client’s detailed care instructions.
- Bring in mail or packages when requested.
- Adjust lights, blinds, or trash and recycling when requested.
- Administer medication when within the sitter’s experience and comfort level.
- Provide dog walking, drop-in visits, extended daytime care, overnight stays, or 24-hour live-in care.
