About The Position

Dr. Norm’s Animal Hospital Groomery is looking for an experienced Dog Groomer to join our team! We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their craft, understands that every dog is different, and knows how to create a safe, comfortable, and positive grooming experience from check-in to the final tail wag. Whether you’re perfecting a breed-specific cut, tackling a serious de-shed, or helping an anxious pup feel a little more comfortable, you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills while building lasting relationships with pets and the people who love them. You’ll work in a fast-paced, professional environment alongside people who share your love of animals and appreciate the skill that goes into great grooming. Requirements

  • At least 1–2 years of professional dog grooming experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with scissoring, clippers, and hand-stripping techniques
  • Strong knowledge of breed-specific grooming standards
  • An understanding of canine behavior, body language, and different temperaments
  • Confidence safely handling dogs of varying breeds, sizes, and personalities
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Patience and compassion when working with nervous or challenging pets
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • The ability to manage multiple appointments while maintaining high grooming standards
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Availability to work weekends when required based on business needs
  • A genuine love for animals and commitment to creating a positive grooming experience

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from a recognized grooming school or program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, trimming, and styling
  • Provide breed-specific trims and customized cuts based on client preferences and individual pet needs
  • Perform pre-grooming assessments and identify concerns such as skin conditions, parasites, irritation, or matting
  • Trim nails, clean ears, and provide gland expression services as appropriate
  • Use hand-stripping, scissoring, and clipper techniques to achieve high-quality results
  • Safely and compassionately handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, temperaments, and grooming needs
  • Use patient, low-stress handling techniques to help anxious or nervous pets feel more comfortable
  • Educate pet owners on coat maintenance, grooming schedules, and at-home care
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding grooming requests, expectations, and recommendations
  • Assist with client check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, and product sales as needed
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, organized, and professional grooming station
  • Properly clean, sanitize, and maintain grooming tools and equipment
  • Work efficiently to manage a busy appointment schedule while maintaining excellent grooming and safety standards
