About The Position

PITT OHIO is hiring a part-time Inbound Dockworker at its Marcy, New York location. The position follows a Tuesday-through-Saturday schedule with a 4 AM start. Starting pay is $25.74 per hour, with top rate of $28.89 after six months. The role involves loading, unloading, sorting, and securing freight in accordance with DOT requirements, using manual handling or common material-handling equipment. It requires heavy lifting and a range of physical movements, as well as processing daily paperwork and working safely and cooperatively.

Requirements

Pass a non-DOT physical examination.
Consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
Ability to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
Consent to a ten-year work-history check; explain any gaps of 30 days or more and provide documentation if requested.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and the physical activities described for the position.

Responsibilities

Read, write, and communicate in English with internal and external customers; perform simple calculations, handle receipts, read shipping labels, and follow loading instructions.
Load and unload freight on and off trucks according to DOT requirements, by hand or with a hand truck or dolly.
Sort and secure freight on trucks or on the dock to prevent damage and meet DOT requirements.
Lift various materials, including cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, and rugs.
Use common material-handling tools such as carts, dollies, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
Work safely and professionally to reduce risks to self and fellow employees.
Comply with federal, state, and company regulations.
Process all paperwork associated with the job daily.
Be available and willing to work; exceptions require management approval.
Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative manner.
Perform other duties as directed or requested.
