About The Position

The Dockworker primarily works in the outside dock area of an AmeriGas facility. The employee unloads empty propane cylinders from trucks, carries them inside the dock area to the refill station, refills them, then returns the filled cylinders to the dock and reloads them onto trucks for the next day’s delivery. Other duties may include cylinder repair and maintenance, providing customer training on dispensing propane, and handling refills for walk-in customers.

The position requires physical activity including climbing steps and ladders, walking 1–5 miles, carrying multiple propane cylinders weighing up to 75 pounds each, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing in and out of trucks. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Successful applicants are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with company policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to climb steps and ladders, walk 1–5 miles, and carry multiple propane cylinders weighing up to 75 pounds each.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, and climb in and out of trucks.
• Willingness to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check; successful applicants must pass the drug screen as a condition of employment.
• Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with AmeriGas policies.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of work experience in manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload empty propane cylinders from trucks.
• Carry cylinders into the dock area to the refill station and refill them.
• Move filled cylinders back to the dock and reload them onto trucks for the next day’s delivery.
• Perform cylinder repair and maintenance as needed.
• Provide customer training on dispensing propane as needed.
• Handle refills for walk-in customers as needed.
