DMPK Scientist

Schrödinger•Cambridge, NY

About The Position

Schrödinger is seeking a DMPK Scientist to support drug discovery and preclinical development. The role develops and drives DMPK and PK/PD strategy for discovery projects, contributes scientific expertise to cross-functional project teams, and helps turn molecular-modeling concepts into druggable chemical entities. The scientist integrates computational predictions with physicochemical, ADME, and DMPK data to guide compound optimization and selection, and collaborates with internal teams, partner companies, and external CROs to generate and interpret relevant data. The position also supports development-candidate regulatory submissions and the establishment of predictive computational ADME/DMPK models. The role is suited to a scientist with strong ADME and DMPK expertise, experience representing DMPK independently on project teams, and the ability to lead scientific strategy and communicate effectively. Schrödinger describes its culture as relaxed but engaged, with teams around the world and its largest office in New York.

Requirements

  • PhD in life sciences, chemical engineering, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline, with at least five years of pharmaceutical-industry DMPK experience; or a master's degree in one of these fields with at least ten years of pharmaceutical-industry DMPK experience.
  • Prior experience independently representing DMPK on project teams.
  • Robust DMPK background and understanding of ADME principles and their applications across drug discovery and development.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following: in vitro/in vivo drug metabolism or transporter approaches to identify ADME liabilities and support compound optimization; or PK/PD and PBPK modeling for compound selection, dose optimization, and study design.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and able to analyze data.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to contribute as a team member and drive projects.
  • Flexible and curious, with an interest in networking and building internal and external relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commonly used PK/PD software such as Phoenix/WinNonlin, SimCYP, Monolix, MATLAB SimBiology, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive DMPK and PK/PD strategy for drug discovery projects.
  • Represent the DMPK group on internal and intercompany project teams, helping translate molecular-modeling design ideas into druggable novel chemical entities.
  • Collaborate with internal and intercompany project team members and external CROs to generate relevant data for knowledge and data integration.
  • Analyze and integrate in silico ADME predictions, physicochemical properties, ADME results, and DMPK data to inform multiparameter optimization.
  • Author and/or review reports for regulatory submission of development drug candidates, ensuring study quality and sound interpretation, and support interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with the scientific development team to establish predictive computational ADME/DMPK models.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Equity-based compensation
  • Healthcare benefits, including dental and vision
  • 401(k)
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Parental leave program
  • Over a month of paid vacation time
