About The Position

This position manages special projects and monitoring activities to ensure they support division strategy. It involves analyzing problems, identifying and evaluating pertinent factors, defining project scope, goals, success standards, deliverables, and timeframes, and identifying required resources. The role also involves developing project action/business plans, organizing and coordinating special committees or project teams, communicating project missions, determining tasks, facilitating meetings, and actively participating in group meetings. Additionally, it provides oversight and supervision for Detention's training and youth engagement, acts as a liaison with the office of Talent Leadership & Culture, tracks training records for headquarters staff, assists with regional training, develops training curriculum, and serves as the liaison for the Trauma Inform Care Program. The position offers direct oversight of the Detention’s Long Range Program Plan, Legislative Budget Request, Strategic Plan, and legislative bill analysis. It requires maintaining thorough knowledge of activities, issues, events, potential problems, and updates to ensure timeframes are met. The role also involves coordinating with various departments and participating in Intent to Negotiate (ITN)s, Request for Proposals (RFPs), and other contractual activities. It serves as the Detention Statewide Monitoring and Quality Improvement (MQI) liaison, responsible for reviewing and drafting annual compliance reports, standards, and workpapers for Detention Services. Oversight includes the statewide Behavior Management System (BMS), Life Skills Facilitator Workshops and youth sessions, Program Monitoring Management, review and approval of Outcome-Based Corrective Action Plans (OBCAP), and the Leadership Mentoring Program. The role acts as the correspondence representative, reviewing and processing assignments from the Assistant Secretary, developing and reviewing outgoing correspondence, and preparing newsletters and other reports. Other related duties as assigned are also part of this role. Due to the nature of the work, overnight travel is required, potentially with little to no notice at the discretion of management. A valid and current State of Florida Driver's License is required.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in Department of Juvenile Justice policies and procedures.
  • Possessing the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Understand computer technology and systems applications of Word, Excel, PDF, and other functional software programs.
  • Proficient in the use and application of the telephone, copier, and other equipment.
  • Ability to travel.
  • A valid and current State of Florida Driver's License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus four years of progressively responsible experience in detention, prevention, probation, residential, or another human services field or equivalent combination of education and experience, such as a bachelor’s degree plus ten years of relevant human services experience.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PDF/Adobe, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
