This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring all legal information coming into the HR Department. The role involves preparing legal documents, performing legal research, reading and interpreting legal documents, and communicating with attorneys and other professionals. The Director will respond to inquiries regarding EEOC and legal actions, interpretation of Territorial Minutes, and legal documents. They will also research and analyze files for Divisional Finance Board review and process legal documents to and from various entities. Ensuring legal procedures comply with governing legal and Salvation Army regulations is a key aspect of this role. The position acts as the first point-of-contact and liaison among attorneys, other professionals, and Corps officers for the timely and accurate processing of legal documents and information exchange. It supervises and monitors the processing of all documents and correspondence from attorneys or other professionals regarding HR legal issues, ensuring compliance with deadlines and proper filing and archiving. The role involves receiving, reviewing, logging, tracking, and coordinating employment-related legal matters, including EEOC and other administrative agency charges, lawsuits, subpoenas, summonses, complaints, demand letters, notices, requests for information, discovery requests, attorney correspondence, and other legal documents. A comprehensive HR legal case-management and tracking system will be maintained. The Director will coordinate administrative support for EEOC charges and other federal, state, and local employment-related agency complaints, investigations, claims, and lawsuits. Collaboration with the Divisional HR Director, Territorial Headquarters Legal, and authorized counsel is essential for gathering documentation, preparing case materials, coordinating responses, scheduling meetings, tracking deadlines, and maintaining case files. The role also involves preparing, processing, and tracking HR Legal requisitions and requests for legal assistance, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Serving as the Divisional HR point of contact for follow-up information requested by Territorial Headquarters Legal and monitoring matters through completion are crucial. Additionally, the position provides legal training and other management training to reduce legal issues, including incident report writing, documentation rationale, communication, and file maintenance. A working understanding of employment-related administrative and legal proceedings is necessary for accurate document identification, prioritization, response coordination, and effective communication. The Director will coordinate preparation for and attend mediations, depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings, organizing case materials and assisting HR leadership and counsel.
