About The Position

Nord Anglia Education is seeking a part-time Human Resources Director for its New York campus (NAISNY). This role involves approximately 20 hours per week and requires a self-motivated, reflective professional who can be both strategic and hands-on. The HR Director will serve as a trusted advisor to school leadership, a champion for people and culture, and a key member of the School Senior Leadership Team. The role reports directly to the Principal, with a dotted-line to the Regional Human Resources Director, and is supported by Nord Anglia Education's US Shared Services Team for functions like payroll and benefits administration. The position is highly hands-on, covering all aspects of the employee experience, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, payroll, benefits coordination, compliance, HR administration, employee engagement, retention, training, professional development, and workforce planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compliance, and HR operations.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Experience working with HRIS (Success factors) and payroll systems (HR Connect), maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring data integrity.
  • Ability to analyze HR data, prepare reports, and provide workforce insights to leaders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a hands-on environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, providing practical and strategic HR guidance.
  • Champion NAISNY and Nord Anglia Education's vision, values, culture, and people practices.
  • Coach and support managers on people leadership aspects, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, workforce planning, and compliance.
  • Train and advise managers on interviewing, hiring, performance feedback, disciplinary processes, investigations, and employment law.
  • Operate effectively within a matrix organization, balancing local school priorities with regional and group HR initiatives.
  • Act as the key liaison between the school, Regional HR team, and Shared Services team.
  • Support change management, organizational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with all Nord Anglia Education policies, school policies, and applicable employment regulations.
  • Maintain responsibility for the accurate and timely execution of employee lifecycle processes.
  • Partner closely with the US Shared Services team for payroll, benefits administration, HR systems, and compliance.
  • Review payroll inputs and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain high standards of data integrity across HRIS, payroll, benefits, and employee records systems.
  • Ensure all employee transactions are processed promptly and accurately within SuccessFactors and related systems.
  • Monitor and audit HR data quality, reporting relationships, and organizational structures.
  • Produce and analyze HR metrics and reports for school and regional leadership.
  • Support annual reporting cycles and people processes, including headcount planning, compensation reviews, talent reviews, and engagement surveys.
  • Coordinate COBRA notifications, benefits updates, employee separations, and system access changes.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and ensure all HR documentation is completed and retained.
  • Support budget planning and monitoring of HR-related costs.
  • Coordinate HR-related communications and key people-process calendars.
  • Lead workforce planning and staffing discussions.
  • Manage the recruitment lifecycle for school-based positions.
  • Partner with Regional HR, Marketing, and hiring managers to strengthen employer branding.
  • Manage relationships with recruitment agencies and external vendors.
  • Oversee onboarding processes, ensuring all new employees complete required documentation and compliance checks.
  • Coordinate comprehensive onboarding plans with managers.
  • Ensure workforce planning data, recruitment activity, and onboarding metrics are accurately maintained and reported.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations matters.
  • Conduct employee investigations and support conflict resolution processes.
  • Advise managers on performance concerns, corrective action, and employment decisions.
  • Lead annual performance management processes.
  • Support mobility, visa, and relocation matters for international employees.
  • Identify employee relations trends and proactively recommend solutions.
  • Coordinate annual talent review and succession planning processes.
  • Partner with school leaders to identify high-potential talent and development opportunities.
  • Support participation in Nord Anglia leadership programs and talent development activities.
  • Provide talent insights and workforce data to support succession and organizational planning.
  • Maintain accurate organizational structures and reporting lines within SuccessFactors.
  • Drive participation in engagement surveys and other employee feedback initiatives.
  • Facilitate leadership and team discussions on survey results.
  • Partner with leaders to develop, implement, and monitor engagement action plans.
  • Track progress and report on engagement initiatives.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen employee wellbeing, recognition, inclusion, and organizational culture.
  • Conduct market benchmarking and compensation analysis.
  • Support annual compensation review processes.
  • Act as the local HR contact for benefits, compensation, and policy-related inquiries.
  • Ensure accurate administration of employee leave programs.
  • Support employee education and communication concerning benefits, policies, and HR programs.
  • Monitor compensation and benefits data quality.
  • Serve as the primary HR liaison between the school, Regional HR team, US Shared Services team, and Group HR functions.
  • Build strong partnerships with Shared Services teams.
  • Ensure clear ownership, timely follow-up, and resolution of HR-related requests.
  • Act as a champion for standardized HR processes.
  • Support the implementation of regional and global HR initiatives, programs, and policies.
  • Maintain effective communication with Regional HR leadership.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Safeguarding, Admissions, and school leadership teams.
